Students will read through the 'I Have A Dream' speech and be able to write an eyewitness account on what it would be been like to witness the March on Washington.
Explanation-
After reading a primary speech document, they will be able to analyze the event. The 'I Have A Dream' speech is very famous and symbolizes a shift in the Civil Rights Movement. The March on Washington is a major event that is celebrated to this day, and after looking at this speech the students will be able to write an eyewitness account of what it would be like to be present at the historical event. For those writers in the classroom it is an opportunity for them to demonstrate their knowledge in the genre they thrive in.
